Australian wicket-keeper-batter Josh Inglis is confident that he would be able to contribute as a specialist batter for Australia during the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be played in India.
Reflecting on his role, Inglis mentioned, “In the past, I have played purely as a batsman. I quite enjoy my fielding, so there’s no issue with that at all. I’m just trying to string some games together and put in some performances that will make them have to pick me almost,” he said in a presser.
Inglis, likely to be the second-choice wicket keeper behind Alex Carey, demonstrated his batting prowess by scoring a well-crafted 45 runs from 45 balls in the Mohali ODI. His innings was laced with three fours and two sixes. Australia suffered a five-wicket defeat to India in the opening match, putting them behind 0-1 in the three-match series, with the second game scheduled for Sunday (September 24).
