The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) have started preparations for the upcoming World Cup 2025. A two-day trial is being conducted for the Indian team selection from August 30 to 31 at the IPA Centre of Excellence in Ahmedabad. Over 140 players from all across the country have participated in a bid to represent India at the global stage.

The IPA is a National Sports Federation (NSF) for pickleball in India, which comes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The tournament will mark its second edition under the Global Pickleball Federation, which is scheduled to begin from October 27 to November 2 in Florida, USA. The inaugural season of Pickleball World Cup was a big success last year, which was held in Lima, Peru.

The tournament will be played in three major categories. The first is the U-16 category, where two boys and girls each will be selected. The next is the Open category for both men’s and women’s singles event. The final one is the men’s and women’s doubles event. A 50+ category is also included for both men’s and women’s doubles event.

During a recent press event, IPA president Mr. Suryaveer Singh Bhullar addressed his views on the selection trials of the World Cup tournament.

“Today is a landmark day for Indian pickleball as we begin the process of selecting the first official Indian team for the Pickleball World Cup,” he said. “For the first time, players will represent India under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India, with the Indian Pickleball Association recognised as the National Sports Federation for the sport.”
