Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have confirmed officially that their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the season due to a hairline fracture of the elbow. Now, MS Dhoni will lead the team for the rest of the IPL 2025 season. But, CSK have to get a proper replacement for the batter, Ruturaj and some exciting names can be considered.

Prithvi Shaw
Known for his explosive starts, Prithvi Shaw can be an exciting option. He has played 79 IPL matches, scoring 1892 runs at a strike rate of 147.47, including 14 fifties. He went unsold in the auction but played only eight matches in the last season for Delhi Capitals (DC).
Ayush Mhatre
At only 17, the Mumbai opener is making waves. As per a report by Times of India (TOI), Mhatre was recently summoned for CSK’s mid-season trials following a brilliant domestic stint. He scored 458 runs in seven matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, averaging 65.42, with two centuries and a fifty. For the Indian U19 team, he scored the second most runs (176) in the Under19 Asia Cup 2024/25.
Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal was recently seen enjoying the CSK vs RCB clash at the Chepauk stadium in this ongoing IPL. Despite having an experience of playing 127 IPL matches, he went unsold in the auction. Agarwal has scored 2661 runs in this competition, at a strike rate of 133.05 including 13 fifties and one century. In the last season of the IPL, he played only four matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
