Amid growing uncertainty over the resumption of IPL 2025, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have reportedly continued training as usual. The franchise has kept its players and support staff in practice even after the tournament was suspended for a week on 9 May, following escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

While several teams saw their overseas players and coaching staff leave India within 24 hours of the suspension, GT emerged as the only team that did not disband. According to ESPNcricinfo, only two of their overseas players — Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee — flew back home. The rest of the squad, including domestic players and support staff, chose to remain in Ahmedabad.

A ceasefire was declared on Saturday evening, and on Sunday, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the board would “duly announce the date of IPL restart” after consulting “all stakeholders and the concerned government authorities.”

The Titans currently sit at the top of the points table with 16 points from eight wins and three defeats in 11 games. While Royal Challengers Bengaluru also have 16 points, GT lead the table due to a superior net run rate of +0.798. They have three more fixtures remaining, two of which — against Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings — will be played at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The third match is against Delhi Capitals, scheduled to take place in Delhi.

GT’s opening pair, Sai Sudharsan (509 runs) and Shubman Gill (508 runs), are making waves in the Orange Cap leaderboard, occupying second and third positions respectively. Both have surpassed 500 runs this season, trailing only Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav (510 runs).

GT’s batting unit has been exceptional, and their bowlers have complimented them well. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna leads the Purple Cap leaderboard with 20 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Sai Kishore also feature in the top 10 with 15 and 14 wickets respectively.
