Delhi Capitals’ star wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul is set to make his much-anticipated debut for the franchise in their second IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 30 in Visakhapatnam, as reported by The Times of India. Rahul missed the season opener against his former team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), on March 24 due to the birth of his first child with his wife Athiya Shetty.

Rahul has been in excellent form recently, playing a key role in India’s Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai. Throughout the campaign, as a wicket-keeper batter, he was brilliant behind the stumps and came up with some crucial contributions with the bat. In preparation for the IPL season, he trained under India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai before joining the Delhi Capitals camp in Visakhapatnam.

DC bought KL Rahul for 14 crore in the IPL 2025 auction

The franchise secured Rahul for ₹14 crore in the 2025 mega auction, expecting him to play a crucial role in their pursuit of a maiden IPL title. A seasoned IPL performer, Rahul has amassed 4,683 runs in 132 matches, including 37 half-centuries and four centuries. His consistency is evident, having scored over 500 runs in six of the last seven seasons.

Whether he bats at the top or in the middle order, Rahul will undoubtedly bring much-needed stability in the whole DC batting unit. Beyond his batting, Rahul’s leadership experience will be valuable for Delhi Capitals’ skipper Axar Patel, particularly in high-pressure situations. Fans eagerly await his debut in the DC jersey, hoping his presence will bolster the batting lineup and enhance the team’s chances this season going forward.
