Homecoming for Mayank Agarwal as he returns to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2025, replacing the injured Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal sustained an injury to his right hamstring and hence, his participation this season has been cut short. In 10 matches, he scored 247 runs, including two fifties.

Mayank Agarwal has experience playing in 127 IPL matches, scoring 2,661 runs, including one century and 13 fifties. While announcing, RCB shared a post on social media that read: “After 12 long years, ’ where he belongs. Happy #HomeComing, Mayank. 12th Man Army will be on top of the moon hearing this, and they’ll all be right behind you.”

Here is the shared tweet:

RCB have paid ₹1 Crore for Mayank Agarwal

Mayank began his IPL journey with RCB back in 2011. He was a part of the franchise until 2013. Then, he played for different teams like Delhi Daredevils (currently known as Delhi Capitals, 2014–2016), Rising Pune Super Giants (2017), Punjab Kings (2018–2022), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2023–2024). He even captained PBKS, but unfortunately, he did not find any takers in the IPL 2025 auction earlier.

Now, RCB have paid ₹1 crore to acquire his services. “It’s really unfortunate to lose Devdutt at this stage of the tournament, especially after the impact he’s had this season. He’s been a key part of our top order. We wish him a speedy recovery. At the same time, we’re pleased to welcome Mayank Agarwal to RCB. His experience and versatility will prove valuable for us as we head into the business end of the season,” said Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket, RCB.
