Delhi Capitals (DC), who started IPL 2025 very well by winning their first four matches, were at one point at the top of the table with 10 points from six matches. However, they lost their way in the middle phase of the season, losing three of their last four matches. With today’s match being suspended, DC might now be under immense pressure to win their remaining games. Despite the setbacks, their chances of making the playoffs are still in their own hands.

DC’s Playoff Chances After This Clash

Historically, 16 points have been considered the ‘magic number’ for qualification to the playoffs, but this year, that may not be enough. DC now have 13 points from 11 matches, and considering that one point will be awarded from this game, with two straight wins, they can still reach a maximum of 18 points. That could be enough, but the net run rate might come into play.

DC have two matches left — one against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi on May 11, and another against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Mumbai on May 15. GT are currently at the top of the table with 16 points, while MI are in fourth position with 14 points from 12 matches. In the first leg, DC lost to GT by seven wickets with four balls remaining. DC also lost their first-leg match against MI by 12 runs. If DC win one match and loses the other, they will have to depend on the results of other teams to qualify for the playoffs.
