In the 58th match of the Tata IPL 2025, the clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala was abandoned due to a major technical failure at the stadium.

PBKS had started brilliantly, scoring 122 runs with the loss of only one wicket in just 10.1 overs. Priyansh Arya scored a brilliant 70 runs off 34 balls at a strike rate of 205.88, and Prabhsimran Singh remained unbeaten on 50 off 28 balls with a strike rate of 178.58. However, the game was officially called off suddenly.

PBKS’ Playoff Chances After This Clash

Whether one point will be awarded to both teams from this match remains to be seen. Currently, PBKS are in third place with 15 points from 11 games and a net run rate of +0.376. Their next match is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on 11 May in Ahmedabad. After that, they are scheduled to take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 16 May in Jaipur.

Considering the opponents, the clash against MI is going to be a crucial one as MI are now in fourth place with 14 points from 12 games and a net run rate of +1.156. Hence, a win in that game will give PBKS a major boost in the playoff race. The RR clash might be easier, considering RR’s current form. RR are already out of the playoff race and are currently in ninth place with just six points from 12 games and a net run rate of -0.718.

Considering that one point will be awarded from this game and with two straight wins, PBKS will reach 20 points, which should be more than enough to qualify. But if they win at least one game out of the upcoming two, then with 18 points, the net run rate might come into play.
