Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost by 39 runs to the Gujarat Titans (GT) after their batters failed to chase down the target of 199. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi fought valiantly, but they didn’t receive enough support from others to get close to the target. In the first innings, KKR’s bowlers couldn’t make much of an impact, as GT’s top-order batters dominated the field. The opening partnership between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan once again stood out. Gill’s 90 off 55 balls, Sudharsan’s 52, Jos Buttler’s 41, and the collective effort by the bowlers all played key roles in GT’s win.
GT have held firm at the top of the points table and are inching closer to playoff qualification with their current form. KKR, on the other hand, need to regroup quickly or risk missing out on the playoffs this season.
IPL 2025 Points Table
With two more points added, GT remain at the top with 12 points and a net run rate of +1.104. Last season, after eight matches, they had four wins and four losses. This year, they look set for redemption. The Delhi Capitals (DC) follow with 10 points, trailed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), all tied at 10 points each. Mumbai Indians (MI) are regaining form and currently sit sixth with 8 points, followed by KKR with 6 points. Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) remain unchanged at the bottom. A positive result is crucial for them, or playoff hopes may slip away.
The Gujarat Titans are leading across the board—not just the points table but also in the race for the Orange and Purple Caps.

IPL 2025 – Orange Cap List
GT’s Sai Sudharsan is now the Orange Cap holder, overtaking LSG’s Nicholas Pooran, who had been leading for a while. Sudharsan’s tally of 417 runs keeps him ahead. GT’s Jos Buttler climbs back to third with 356 runs. MI’s Suryakumar Yadav is next with 333 runs, followed by RCB’s Virat Kohli with 322.

IPL 2025 – Purple Cap List
With two more wickets from yesterday’s match, GT’s Prasidh Krishna extends his lead with 16 wickets this season. Making a strong comeback after three years away from the IPL, his performance has been impressive. DC’s Kuldeep Yadav holds second place with 12 wickets, followed by GT’s Sai Kishore, who also added two wickets to his tally. CSK’s Noor Ahmed slips to fourth, tied at 12 wickets. RCB’s Josh Hazlewood, GT’s Mohammed Siraj, and LSG’s Shardul Thakur are also in the race with 12 wickets each.
