Raghu Sharma has joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad as a replacement for Vignesh Puthur. Raghu, who hails from Punjab, was with the MI squad as a support bowler, and when Vignesh got injured ,MI added Raghu to the squad after his impressive performances in the nets. Vignesh will miss the rest of the season due to bone stress reactions in both shins.
Raghu has experience in 11 First-Class matches, 3 T20s, and 9 List A matches, having played for Punjab and Pondicherry. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, representing Punjab, Raghu was in excellent form, taking 14 wickets in 9 matches. He has five five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls in his career so far.
Vignesh made headlines with a dream debut, taking three wickets. Overall, he has played five matches and taken six wickets, performing well for MI. However, Vignesh will not leave the squad; he will stay with the team and focus on his recovery and rehabilitation. The MI medical and strength & conditioning team will assist him throughout the process.
MI is currently in a tricky position on the points table. They have 12 points from 10 matches. Historically, 16 points have been the magic number to qualify for the playoffs. To reach that mark, MI needs to win at least two of their remaining four games.
