Sanju Samson moving to Chennai Super Kings, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran heading to Rajasthan Royals in a close-season swap deal, appears a possibility, RevSportz understands. Negotiations between the two IPL franchises have intensified, although this website wishes to make it clear that nothing has been finalised yet. As things stand, the deadlock remains over the financial aspects before a deal can be inked. Also, the deal needs to be agreeable to the players.
“Nothing is confirmed,” a CSK official told RevSportz. The five-time IPL champions then posted a video on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, seemingly mocking the rumours. The video featured CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan and team mascot Leo joking about the former being traded to Punjab Kings. The clip was overlaid with a Malayalam verse, a clear nod to the Sanju speculation. “Trade rumours are subject to mental health risks. Wait till the official announcement for sanity,” the caption read.
Interestingly, when asked about the possibility of a Samson-for-Jadeja-plus-Curran swap, a Royals insider said: “Advanced stages, apparently.”
The question is whether CSK would part ways with Jadeja, a true-blue Yellow. The franchise has already lost Ravichandran Ashwin’s experience. As for Curran, CSK had bought him for ₹2.4 crore at last year’s mega-auction.
As for Sanju, the Royals captain until the last edition of the IPL, it feels like too many bridges have been burned. The wicketkeeper-batter reportedly expressed his wish to leave the franchise at the end of the 2025 IPL season.
