West Indies sealed the three-match T20I series against Ireland with a thumping 62-run win in the third and final match. After the first two matches were suspended without a ball being bowled, fans finally got to see both teams in action, as West Indies won the series 1-0. Batting first, the Windies posted a massive total of 256/5 in 20 overs, with Lewis leading the charge alongside skipper Shai Hope, who scored 51 off 27, and Keacy Carty’s unbeaten 49 off 22. In reply, Ireland put up a fight and managed 194/7 in their 20 overs. Akeal Hosein stood out with the ball for the Windies, taking three wickets for 27 runs in four overs.
“Wanted to see what the wicket was doing and then step up a bit” – Lewis
After winning the series and putting in a match-winning performance, Lewis shared his thoughts. He expressed disappointment about not being able to play the first two games, but was glad to contribute in the decider. “It was unfortunate we did not play (the first two games). Felt pretty good (out there). Wanted to see what the wicket was doing and then step up a bit,” Lewis said.
Speaking more about his innings, he mentioned how much it meant to him and praised his partnership with Shai Hope. “Means a lot – I wanted to do well. Still grateful and thankful. Pretty easy to bat with him (Hope). He tries to get the game off to a good start, similar to me and I am grateful to bat with him,” he added.
