
Ireland Women have sealed the ongoing three-match T20I series with another win after defeating Pakistan Women in the second match by four wickets. Rebecca Stokell was named the Player of the Match for her unbeaten 34 off 16 in the successful run chase.
For Ireland, the run chase of 169 seemed a huge task, especially after losing three wickets in six overs. Then, a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 56 balls took place between Laura Delany and Orla Prendergast. Prendergast scored 51 off 34 before Stokell came out to bat.
In the last over, they needed nine runs with Stokell and Ava Canning in the middle. In the first four deliveries, they managed five runs, and on the fifth delivery, Canning got out. Therefore, on the last delivery, they needed four runs, and Jane Maguire came out and smashed a six to seal the win. Stokell remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 16.
For Pakistan, Rameen Shamim impressed with the ball, claiming a three-wicket haul, while Fatima Sana and Sadia Iqbal claimed one wicket each.
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first and managed to put up a decent score of 168/6 on the board. Significant contributions from Muneeba Ali (27 off 22), Shawaal Zulfiqur (33 off 27), Eyman Fatima (23 off 16), Natalia Pervaiz (31 off 17), and captain Fatima Sana (23 off 16) helped the visitors reach the competitive total.
For the home team, Cara Murray and Lara McBride bagged two wickets each, with Prendergast claiming one.
With this win, Ireland sealed the series, and now they will look for another victory to clean sweep Pakistan, with the third match scheduled to take place on 10 August.
