Team India clinched the five-match T20I series 2-1 in Australia after the fifth and final game was washed out due to rain. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan praised the current crop of all-rounders — Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar — for their impactful performances throughout the series.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Irfan said: “We have seen some changes but there is a story in those. The strength of this team is the all-rounders. I’m focussing on all-rounders because Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel have been the biggest positives, especially Sundar as he’s not been a regular part of the T20I side. He got an opportunity and played a 49-run knock in Hobart. When he received an opportunity to bowl, he picked up three wickets.”

Sundar’s match-winning knock came in the third T20I at Hobart when India were trailing 0-1 in the series. Walking in with 76 runs still needed, the 26-year-old counter-attacked brilliantly to guide India to victory. In the fourth T20I, he took three wickets in just eight balls, maintaining his all-round impact.

Axar Patel also delivered in key moments. He was named Player of the Match in the fourth T20I for his 21-run cameo and two crucial early wickets that turned the game in India’s favour.

Shivam Dube, meanwhile, continued his fine form. After a vital partnership with Tilak Varma in the Asia Cup 2025 final, where he scored 33 runs to help India lift the trophy, Dube took two key wickets in the fourth T20I at Carrara.

Irfan further added, “Shivam Dube has raised his stocks in bowling and it’s a huge factor for the Indian team, given Hardik Pandya’s injury that we saw in Asia Cup.”
