According to former Australian cricketer Tom Moody, the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season may mark the end of Dinesh Karthik’s tournament career. The seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman had a forgettable campaign, managing just 140 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 134.62. Despite his impressive performance in IPL 2022 that earned him a spot in the T20 World Cup squad, Dinesh Karthik has struggled to replicate his form this season.
In his debut season with RCB, Karthik showcased his skills as a finisher.
However, his recent performance in a crucial match against the Gujarat Titans was disappointing, as he was dismissed for a golden duck. This marked his fourth duck in a single IPL season, tying for the second-highest number of ducks by a player. Additionally, it was Karthik’s 17th duck in his IPL career, setting a record for the most ducks in the tournament’s history.
“Dinesh Karthik had a very average tournament and you just wonder whether this is possibly his last tournament,” Tom Moody said on ESPNCricinfo.
