Following his sensational maiden Test half-century against the West Indies, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan shared an interesting discussion that he had with Rishabh Pant before the tour.
Batting at number four, Ishan showcased his batting prowess with a quickfire 34-ball 52*, although play was interrupted by rain. With India declaring at 181/2, they set the West Indies a challenging target of 365 runs to chase down.
“I was at NCA before coming here. I was practising there and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got a few points for me. He asked me the bat position and everything, because he had seen me playing with him. We have played together so many matches. We have been together since U-19. So he knows how I play, what my mindset is.
“So you just help me a little bit with my bat position and everything, so otherwise I think I also wanted someone to tell me a few things about my batting and it was a great time for him to come and chat with me and really thankful for that,” said Ishan Kishan after the end of Day 4.
Meanwhile, Pant has been on a challenging road to recovery after a harrowing car accident on December 30, 2022. The BCCI has been closely overseeing his rehabilitation progress and recently shared on July 21, 2023, that the cricketer has made “significant progress.”
Pant has already resumed batting and wicket-keeping during practice sessions in the nets at the NCA.
