Ishita achieved the distinction of finishing first in the Civil Services 2022 examination, as officially announced by the UPSC on Tuesday. Originally from Delhi, the 26-year-old Ishita is an alumna of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). She finally succeeded in cracking the exam at her third attempt. Among the total number of qualified candidates from the civil services examination 2022, 613 were men and 320 women.
Notably, the first four ranks went to women, with Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N, and Smriti Mishra securing the second, third, and fourth positions. Expressing her delight, Ishita remarked, “It is truly encouraging to witness women securing the top four ranks.”
In her teen years, Ishita was also a national-level football player. She took part in the Subroto Cup football tournament in 2012. An international football competition held each year in New Delhi, the Subroto Cup sees schools from across Asia participate. Ishita represented the Air Force Bal Bharti school (Delhi) in the competition.
The younger of two siblings, she dedicated long hours every day towards making her dream come true. Away from the field of play, Ishita’s goal is to contribute to women’s empowerment. She has chosen the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), with a preference for the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
