Virender Sehwag’s son, Aryavir Sehwag, made his much-anticipated debut in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025. Representing Central Delhi Kings (CDK) against East Delhi Riders (EDR), the batter played a brief but impactful knock, scoring 22 runs off 16 balls. His cameo helped CDK post 155/6 in their 20 overs, before their bowlers bundled out EDR for just 93, sealing a comfortable 62-run victory.
Aryavir revealed that he found out about his debut after CDK’s previous game, once Yash Dhull left the tournament to join the Duleep Trophy.
“After the last game [I got to know that I will play the next one]. I took that catch in the previous match. After the game ended, Jonty [Sidhu] bhaiyya told me that I would play the next match,” Aryavir said at the post-match press conference.
His innings included two eye-catching boundaries against India pacer Navdeep Saini, which boosted his confidence early on. However, the youngster admitted that he was not satisfied with his short stay at the crease.
“It felt good. The first two boundaries gave me confidence and helped me settle in. But the innings wasn’t that long. I will try to stay longer in the middle next time,” he reflected.
Meanwhile, Aryavir acknowledged that he is eager to take guidance from his father, Virender Sehwag.
“Absolutely. Jab father sahab bolenge to sunna to padega hi (I have to listen to my father),” Aryavir said.
