Indian captain Rohit Sharma showered praise on opener Yashasvi Jaiswal following his sensational innings of 171 runs in the first Test against West Indies in Dominica. India comfortably defeated West Indies, wrapping up the match within three days.
“He has the talent, he has shown us in the past that he is ready. Came and batted sensibly. The temperament was also tested, at no stage he was panicking,” Rohit said in a post-match interview.
Jaiswal’s ton ranks as the joint-fourth highest score by a debutant in Test cricket. It also stands as the third highest score by an Indian player on Test debut. Recognizing his outstanding performance, Jaiswal was awarded the well-deserved player of the match honour.
