A packed fortress awaits Mohun Bagan Super Giants for the first leg of the ISL semi-final. Excitement is soaring as Jamshedpur FC gear up to face the ISL Shield winners. The match has received overwhelming response, with 17,000 tickets sold in just 24 hours. A packed stadium is expected to welcome the visitors, and the hosts will look to ride on the energy of their supporters as they aim for a favourable result before heading to Kolkata, where Mohun Bagan are unbeaten so far this season.

For the first time in ISL history, Jamshedpur will host a semi-final match, and the local fans are eager to make the most of this occasion. Adding to the intrigue is the stature of their opponents. Jamshedpur FC suffered a 3-0 defeat against Mohun Bagan in Kolkata in the league stage but managed a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home.

Learning from their previous encounters, Jamshedpur head coach Khalid Jamil is aware of the challenge posed by Mohun Bagan and has urged his players to be on their toes. “A semi-final is a different game. Obviously, Mohun Bagan is a strong side, but we are focusing on ourselves and looking for a positive result. We have to be careful against them and play our own game,” Jamil said at the pre-match press conference.

Jamshedpur defender Stephen Eze, who scored a stunning solo goal against Mohun Bagan in their last meeting, is confident of a positive result if the team puts in a strong effort. “We respect Mohun Bagan. They are a good side and have won the Shield. But football is all about the effort you put in during the 90 minutes. If we give our best, we can get the result we want,” Eze remarked.

Jamshedpur come into this match on the back of an emphatic victory over NorthEast United in the knockouts. In their last game, former Mohun Bagan player Pronay Halder excelled in defence, stepping up in the absence of versatile defender Pratik Chaudhary. Despite his past association with the Kolkata club, Pronay remains focused on his current team’s success. “I still have a soft corner for Mohun Bagan. They are undoubtedly the best side this season. But if we play to our potential and stick to our plan, we can achieve a positive result,” he said.

Chaudhary, who has been recovering from an injury, is likely to return to Jamil’s line-up. The defender participated in a mobility session on the eve of the match to prepare fully. “Pratik is fine now, but we will take a final call on his availability in the morning,” Jamil said.

On the other hand, Mohun Bagan arrived in Jamshedpur without two of their regular starters—Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia) and Manvir Singh. It remains to be seen how their replacements step up in this crucial clash.
