It was one of the best Sports Business conferences I have been part of. Doing it in collaboration with Professor Vijay Edward Pereira, it would have been a shame had we stopped the collaboration and left it as a one off. Almost each week since the Paris conference we have been planning how to keep working together.
And that’s why I have real pleasure in announcing that Vijay, in his new role as Head of the Kedge Business School India (with Vijaybhoomi University) has come on board as Knowledge Partners of the Tata Steel Trailblazers conclave.
The idea is to have students and management of the School come together and be part of the deliberations. For academics to meet practitioners and policy makers. Create a forum where these barriers are broken down. We will be creating a white paper in collaboration and the idea is simple- to make a difference to the sports eco system.
Subsequently we will do the second edition of the Sport in Society Sports Business conference at IIM Indore in collaboration with Professor Himanshu Rai in October. Professor Rai has already made the announcement in Paris.
Also this conference will now be an annual affair with the 3rd edition in Glasgow ahead of the CWG in 2026 and thereafter in Akron in 2027.
Very pleased that Professor Vijay Pereira has come on board to consistently work in the Sports Business domain. With the 2036 bid gaining momentum, there is plenty to do in this space in India going forward. And unless there is meaningful dialogue between stakeholders, we don’t really manage to deep dive and understand the complexities associated with the domain. With his involvement we will do some serious academic work in the next few years.
