Indian Football is set for a thrilling two months as the summer transfer window officially opens on June 12. Clubs across the country will be on their toes to strengthen their squads, aiming to bring in key signings that align with their ambitions. Fans, too, will eagerly await announcements from their favourite clubs, hoping to find joy in new player arrivals.
Among the clubs looking to rebuild and reinforce will be Kerala Blasters. Despite coming close on multiple occasions, the Blasters are yet to lift silverware. Last season was a particularly forgettable one, prompting strong reactions from their passionate fanbase. In response, the management is now keen to plug the gaps and reshape the squad.
According to sources, Kerala Blasters are all set to sign Mumbai City FC defender Amey Ranawade on a long-term deal. The contract is likely to be either a 2+3 or 3+2 performance-based extension. Currently a Mumbai City FC player, Ranawade spent the last two seasons on loan at Odisha FC, where he impressed under Spanish coach Sergio Lobera — the same coach who previously mentored him in Mumbai as well.
Kerala have long struggled with consistency at right-back, and Ranawade’s versatility in that role could add much-needed stability and strength to their flanks.
In another major development, sources indicate that Kerala Blasters are likely to part ways with midfielder Adrián Luna, who had an underwhelming season. Luna joined the club in 2021 and is contracted until 2027, but both parties are expected to mutually agree on an early exit before the new season begins. The Uruguayan midfielder has received interest from other ISL clubs, and is expected to continue playing in the league.
