India’s Kidambi Srikanth secured a place in the semi-finals of the BWF Perodua Malaysia Masters 2025 with a hard-fought win over WR 18 Toma Junior Popov in a thrilling quarterfinal encounter.
Srikanth, WR 65, displayed composure and resilience to edge past Popov 24-22, 17-21, 22-20 in a match that lasted over an hour. The former World No. 1’s run in Kuala Lumpur marks a welcome return to the business end of a BWF World Tour event after a gap of over a year.
Earlier in the tournament, Srikanth ousted sixth seed Lu Guang Zu of China and WR 33 Nhat Nguyen of Ireland in impressive fashion. He will next face Japan’s Yushi Tanaka (WR 23) in the semi-finals, aiming to continue his outstanding run.
