Kishan not charged for dissent despite showing anger over ball-change

Ishan Kishan

India A wicket-keeper-bat Ishan Kishan has not been charged for dissent despite having an on-field, verbal exchange with umpire Shawn Craig on the fourth day of the Australia A versus India A game in Mackay. India A were not pleased with the ball being changed.

Cricket Australia noted in an official statement: “The ball used in the fourth innings of the match was changed due to deterioration. Both teams’ captain and manager were informed of the decision prior to the start of play. No further action is being taken.”

As per the stump mic, Craig told the Indian players, “No more discussion, let’s play. This is not a discussion.” He further added, “You scratch it, we change the ball. It is because of your actions we changed the ball.”

Kishan, however, retorted with the words, “So we have to play with this ball? That’s a very stupid decision.” At that moment, Craig admonished the Indian cricketer’s conduct and noted: “Excuse me. You’ll be on report for dissent. That’s inappropriate behaviour.”

Australia A won the unofficial Test by seven wickets on the back of McSweeney (88*) and Beau Webster (61*) scoring crucial fifties.
