In the 39th match of IPL 2025, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went against the table topper Gujarat Titan’s (GT), where GT gave a commending start in the KKR’s home ground. The highlight of the innings was brilliant knock by GT skipper Shubman Gill scored 90 runs off just 55 deliveries which includes 10 fours and 3 sixes at the strike rate of 163.64. Gill anchored the innings beautifully and that helped GT to take the target to 198 with the loss of 3 wickets.
To compliment Gill, Sai Sudharshan played a crucial role in building the strong foundation. The duo made a significant 114 run partnership in the 12.2 overs and along with that the 54-run partnership between Gill and Jos Buttler helped GT to set this massive total. However, Gills power pact innings came to an abrupt end in the 18th over when Vaibhav Arora returned for this third over bowled a full toss that Gill attempted to dispatch over mid-wicket where Rinku Singh dived forward to take a low pressure catch. There was a brief moment of doubt as the umpire calls for a review and Gill missed his well deserving century. Gill was sent back to the pavilion at 90 runs where GT stood at 172/2 setting the stage for a great finish in the final two overs.
This solid performance allowed GT to aim a strong finish. As the games comes towards their play-offs, the batting line-up of GT is getting stronger day by day which is a potential threat to the other teams in the tournament.
