1. Gill played a captain’s knock
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opened the batting and gave GT a dream start. GT were 45-0 at the end of the powerplay, and the duo added 114 runs for the first wicket. Gill then had another fantastic partnership with Jos Buttler, scoring 58 runs off 33 balls together. Gill notched up his third fifty of the season, scoring 90 runs off just 55 balls at a strike rate of 163.64, including 10 fours and 3 sixes. Sai also contributed with a solid 52, while Buttler added 41 runs.
2. GT’s Bowling
GT’s bowlers delivered a masterclass at Eden Gardens. Three of them maintained an economy rate below 6.50. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan took two wickets each, while the remaining bowlers picked up one wicket apiece. At one point during KKR’s chase of 199, they went nearly five overs without hitting a boundary — a phase where they completely lost momentum.
3. Another Batting Failure for KKR
In their previous match, KKR failed to chase 113, and their batting woes continued today. Except for captain Ajinkya Rahane, no batter managed to score even 30. There wasn’t a single half-century partnership. Though Angkrish Raghuvanshi showed some promise, it was too late for him to make any impact on the result.
