Punjab Kings’ Priyansh Arya played a gem of an innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata yesterday in the 44th match of IPL 2025. Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and elected to bat first. Prabhsimran Singh came out to open the innings with Priyansh. They started boldly, and at the end of the powerplay, PBKS were 56 for no loss.

Their carnage went on until the fifth ball of the 12th over. Singh and Priyansh went hand in hand, and the KKR bowlers desperately searched for some respite. They built a partnership of 120 runs, which could have been match-winning had the match been completed.

Priyansh was in brilliant touch and his innings took off from the first over when he hit Vaibhav Arora for two boundaries, one off the first ball and another off the last. In total, Priyansh scored 69 runs off 35 balls, with eight fours and four sixes, at a strike rate of 197.13.

Priyansh is the find of the season for PBKS, having turned into a run machine. This is Priyansh’s debut year, and in the nine matches he has played, he has scored 323 runs at an average of 35.89 and a strike rate of 200.62, which includes one century and one half-century. His highest score is 103.

PBKS posted a mammoth total of 201-4 in their 20 overs against KKR. None of the KKR bowlers could make a mark, as none had an economy rate of less than eight.
