Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are expected to be without KL Rahul, their captain, for the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2023 season due to a hamstring injury he sustained in their last game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
A PTI report says the severity of the injury is still unknown, but it appears that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now take over Rahul’s medical care from the franchise.
“KL (Rahul) is currently with the team in Lucknow but he is leaving the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday,” said a senior board official quoted by PTI. “His scans will be done in Mumbai at the BCCI-designated medical facility. His case as well as Jaydev’s case will be handled by BCCI.”

According to the source, scans haven’t been conducted yet due to the swelling, and will only be done once it subsides. With Rahul out, Krunal Pandya will be leading Lucknow in their upcoming matches, beginning with the high-stakes game against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday.
“When someone sustains an injury like this, there is a considerable amount of pain and swelling that is there in and around the area. The swelling takes around 24 to 48 hours to heal and only after that can you perform the scan. Since he (KL Rahul) is an important member of Test team, it would only be prudent that he doesn’t take any further part in IPL.”
