Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans were treated to a delightful double dose of joy, as Virat Kohli joined the pre-season camp at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, following the franchise’s triumph in the Women’s Premier League in New Delhi a day earlier. Kohli was seen training at the iconic venue in the Garden City.
Welcoming Kohli to their pre-season camp, Royal Challengers Bangalore took to social media. “Daddy’s Home and he is ready to reign again! Virat Kohli checked in to Namma Bengaluru, and we can’t keep calm. Happy,” said an RCB post on X.
Kohli expressed his excitement about returning to play for RCB. “It’s really good to be back, firstly, playing cricket and just starting off the IPL. Always excited to come back to Bangalore for the start of the IPL season. Similar emotions, similar feelings. I haven’t been off the media radar. I am pretty excited and I hope all the fans are excited as well,” Kohli said in a video.
It is pertinent to note that Kohli has been absent from all action since the T20I series against Afghanistan. He missed the five-Test series against England. During the series, Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma welcomed their baby boy, Akaay.
Throughout this period, Kohli remained away from the spotlight and was in London, returning to India only on Sunday (March 17) as he was spotted at the Mumbai airport.
RCB, who have never won the IPL, begin their campaign against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Friday and Kohli’s arrival is sure to have boosted the morale of the dressing room.
