Talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli reached another ODI milestone by securing his 47th century. He is two short of Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of 49. He also set a record by becoming the quickest to reach 13,000 runs in this format. These feats came in the Asia Cup Super Four clash against Pakistan in Colombo.
By reaching 13,000 runs in his 267th ODI innings, Kohli bettered Tendulkar’s record of 321 innings. With many more ODIs coming up, fans would expect Kohli to become the first man to hit 50 ODI centuries before the year is over.
Batting at No 3, Kohli initially adopted a cautious approach and accelerated gradually. He cut loose after reaching the 50-run mark on the reserve day for this match and completed his century in 84 balls. KL Rahul, too, cracked an unbeaten century in India’s total of 356 for two.
