Kuldeep Yadav proved his worth once again by taking eight wickets against West Indies in the second Test in Delhi as India wrapped up the series 2-0. He was named the Player of the Match, and in the post-match presentation, Kuldeep explained the thought process behind his success.

“Playing two Test matches back to back is always fun,” he said. “Bowling a lot of overs and getting the breakthrough in the middle is something I enjoy a lot. When you put a lot of revs on the ball and because of the arm speed you generate, if you have a lot of revs on the ball, you generally get the drift. You love to the get the batter bowled. I enjoyed a couple of wickets in the first Tests and here as well, it was good.”

The 30-year-old completed the fifth five-for of his career in the first innings of this match. After John Campbell and Shai Hope’s gritty fight in the second innings, Kuldeep was responsible for a mini-collapse, dismissing- Tevin Imlach, Roston Chase, and Khary Pierre in the 90th and 92nd overs of the innings. He finished with the figures of 3/104 in the second innings.

The left-arm wrist-spinner also praised his senior bowling partner, Ravindra Jadeja, who took four wickets in the match.

“It’s lovely to have him (Jadeja) around,” said Kuldeep. “He’s someone who has always guided me in tough situations and given me some advice. It’s really helping me.”
