Ahead of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s, Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne experienced an injury scare during a practice session. He was hit on the arm, causing him momentary discomfort. Labuschagne was visibly in pain and briefly went down on his knees. However, he recovered quickly and resumed batting with Australia assistant coach Michael Di Venuto, appearing comfortable despite the incident. Labuschagne, ranked number three in Test cricket, is expected to feature prominently in the upcoming match.
Di Venuto stated that Labuschagne showed great determination by carrying on with his batting practice despite being struck on the arm, and he reassured that there is no significant cause for concern regarding any major injury to Australia’s number 3.
“He [Marnus Labuschagne] kept on batting so he must’ve been OK. Otherwise, he would have walked out. He’s got a finger that has copped a couple of knocks. I think he just got another one. He said it felt better because the blood started to flow through or something. So it makes sense if that’s what you want,” Di Venuto was quoted as saying by Fox Cricket.
