In the fifth match of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, Noor Ahmad starred for the Texas Super Kings (TSK) as they defeated the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) by 57 runs.
Noor, who had an excellent IPL 2025 season with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), continued his fine form by picking up four wickets. The Afghan spinner had finished IPL 2025 as the second-highest wicket-taker in the Purple Cap race with 24 wickets in 14 games.
However, LAKR’s experienced duo, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, failed to make an impact in this match. After winning the toss, LAKR opted to bowl first. TSK posted 181/4 in 20 overs, with contributions from most of the batters—except skipper Faf du Plessis. Russell had a tough outing, conceding 53 runs in four overs while taking just one wicket. Narine was economical, giving away only 26 runs at an economy of 6.5, but went wicketless.
Russell had a poor IPL 2025 season
In response, LAKR were bowled out for just 124. Noor Ahmad was the standout performer, taking 4/25 in his four overs at an economy rate of 6.25. His spell included the crucial dismissals of both Russell and Narine. With the bat, Russell scored only one run off five balls, while Narine was dismissed for a golden duck. Noor was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning bowling display.
Russell’s struggles have continued from the IPL 2025, where he managed only 167 runs and eight wickets in 13 matches. Narine, on the other hand, had a relatively better season with 246 runs and 12 wickets from 12 matches, but couldn’t make an impact in this MLC clash.
