Wicket-keeper-batter Litton Das has been appointed as the captain of Bangladesh for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad, which includes two newcomers, Shahadat Hossain and Mushfik Hasan.
With Shakib al Hasan ruled out due to a finger injury, Litton will be the 12th Test captain of the country.
Shahadat Hossain Dipu, a talented right-handed middle-order batter, and Mushfik, a promising 20-year-old fast bowler, have earned their places in the national team for this Test match.
Shahadat has shown his potential with 1265 runs in 20 first-class games, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries, since his debut in 2021. Meanwhile, Mushfik has impressed with 49 wickets in 13 matches, including three five-wicket hauls, since his debut in the 2022 first-class season.
Both players were recently part of the Bangladesh A side in the unofficial Test series against West Indies A.
