Liverpool, the reigning English Premier League champions, have announced the signing of Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in a deal worth £40 million. With this transfer, Kerkez becomes the most expensive full-back in the club’s history.
The Hungary international has signed a five-year contract, becoming Liverpool’s fourth new signing of a busy summer window. He joins the Reds after the arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and goalkeeper Armin Pecsi.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre, Kerkez opened up about his decision to join the club and his aspirations going forward.
When asked about his feelings upon joining Liverpool, he said: “I’m really happy. It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.”

Milos Kerkez wants to help Liverpool win trophies
Kerkez also revealed how the Liverpool head coach Arne Slot played a key role in convincing him to join the club: “We talked about the tactics and the plan and where he sees where I can improve and where I can help the team. Obviously when [the] coach comes also and talks to you, it’s a big thing, it’s a big sign of respect. For me, there were no second doubts then that I want to go somewhere else. It was always Liverpool.”
Looking ahead, Kerkez shared his ambitions in the Liverpool shirt: “Obviously to reach my potential to the fullest and to be the best player I can. And help the team win trophies. I think it’s everyone’s dream to win trophies – win the league, win the Champions League – and this club is meant for it. And that’s my dream and I’m going to give everything to reach that.”
