Boxer Lovlina Borgohain is set to embark on a new journey in her life. The Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalist will be launching her own boxing academy in Guwahati. Named ‘Lovlina Boxing Academy,’ the boxer will train the future generation of boxers to achieve recognition and win medals.

To inaugurate the academy, the Olympic medalist will be joined by Assam’s Honourable Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in the inauguration ceremony on June 3, 2025. The launch will, however, be a big step in bringing development towards sports and their infrastructure to India’s northeastern region.

Lovlina on What It Feels Like to Bring Boxing to Assam

While sharing her idea of the academy, Lovlina said that this academy is a promise kept to herself and many young boys and girls in Assam who have dreams of becoming boxers going forward.

“This academy is more than just a training facility; it’s a dream realised and a promise kept to myself and to the countless young boys and girls in Assam who dream of stepping into the ring. With the Lovlina Boxing Academy, my deepest desire is to create a nurturing environment where aspiring athletes not only learn the art of boxing but also develop the resilience, discipline, and unwavering spirit needed to succeed,” said Lovlina.

A world-class boxer herself, Lovlina’s idea of providing the best training in world-class infrastructure to nurture the raw talents comes as significant in the development of boxing as a sport.
