Rishabh Pant’s struggle with the bat continues for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as he failed once again in the ongoing LSG vs PBKS clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Pant scored only two off five balls, getting out to Glenn Maxwell. Trying his luck with a poorly timed flick, he gave a straightforward catch to Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine leg.

LSG spent big in the IPL 2025 auction, shelling out a record ₹27 crore for Rishabh Pant, hoping to find their batting messiah. In this season, he has been given the captaincy duties also. As a leader, he has led the team to one win along with one loss in two games so far. But,  after three matches in the season, the batter, Pant is yet to come good, seriously questioning his form. His tonight’s meltdown against Punjab Kings (PBKS) is only serving to heighten the growing irritation.

With just 17 runs in three games, Rishabh Pant is struggling to meet the expectations of LSG fans

Pant’s agony started during LSG’s opening match against Delhi Capitals when he suffered through a torturous six-ball duck, misjudging a Kuldeep Yadav ball and providing a catch to Faf du Plessis. In his second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he displayed some resolve, making 15 off 15, but his stay at the crease was terminated in mysterious ways—caught off a Harshal Patel full toss following a lengthy third umpire referral for height. With only 17 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 73.91, Pant’s performances have been disappointing.
