Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) young pacer Digvesh Rathi has been making headlines with his controversial “tick-the-notebook” celebration. As LSG get ready to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), all eyes are on whether Rathi will add Virat Kohli to his notebook.
In a recent interaction before the big game, Rathi was asked: “Agla number kiska? (Whose number is next?)” Before he could respond, fans started chanting “Virat Bhai ka,” referring to RCB star Virat Kohli. Rathi smiled and gave a cheeky “no” in reply, keeping everyone guessing.
Virat Kohli has been in great form this season. He has played a key role for RCB with the bat in IPL 2025. So, the battle between Rathi and Kohli will be one to watch closely. But this wouldn’t be the first time Kohli has dealt with a notebook celebration.
Rathi’s Impact in IPL 2025
In 2017, West Indies’ Kesrick Williams used the same celebration after dismissing Kohli in Jamaica. Later in 2019, Kohli hit Williams for a six and returned the celebration during a home series—an iconic moment still fresh in fans’ memories.
If Rathi does end up using the same celebration against Kohli, fans will be eager to see how the RCB star responds. Digvesh Rathi has been impressive with the ball this season. He has taken 14 wickets in 12 matches, with an economy rate of 8.19. His aggressive celebrations, however, have not gone unnoticed.
Rathi has already been fined twice by the BCCI and received warnings for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. In LSG’s last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rathi was involved in a heated exchange with Abhishek Sharma, once again drawing attention for his on-field behaviour.
