In the 61st match of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium B, 22-year-old debutant Harsh Dubey made an immediate impact with the ball. After SRH won the toss and opted to bowl, Dubey broke a strong partnership by dismissing the dangerous Mitchell Marsh, who was batting on 65 runs off 39 balls.
Bowling his third over, Dubey tossed one up around off that spun away slightly, causing Marsh to mistime it. The ball was brilliantly caught by Malinga at short third, giving Dubey his first IPL wicket and bringing LSG’s first dismissal at 115/1.
Who is Harsh Dubey? Meet SRH’s Promising New All-Rounder
Harsh Dubey is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder from Vidarbha, who was acquired by SRH for the base price of ₹30 lakh ahead of the 2025 season. He came into the spotlight during the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, where he made headlines by picking up 69 wickets in a single season, breaking Ashutosh Aman’s previous record of 68 wickets. Alongside his bowling, Dubey also contributed 476 runs, which helped him earn the Player of the Tournament award and played a key role in helping Vidarbha lift the title.
During the match interval, Harsh Dubey said: “I think I could have done better. Whatever we have done is good. Thought they would reach 220 but 206 is also good. Dropped catches are part and parcel. I wasn’t thinking about those missed chances. [Batting or bowling all-rounder?] Depends on whether we are batting or bowling first! But I am a batting all-rounder. My plan was to toss the ball and hope that the ball sticks on the surface, and that’s what happened [in the Marsh wicket].”
