1. Blistering start by LSG openers
Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram gave LSG a dream start, as they have done several times this season. In the powerplay, they powered LSG to 69 without loss. Both looked dangerous from the outset, dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground. Marsh scored 65 off just 39 balls at a strike rate of 166.67, including six fours and four sixes, while Markram contributed 61 off 38 balls at a strike rate of 160.53, with four fours and four sixes. Their explosive partnership was broken when Marsh was dismissed with LSG on 115.
2. SRH’s bowling comeback
LSG crossed 100 in just nine overs and seemed on track for a total around 250. However, SRH’s bowlers mounted a strong comeback, taking wickets at regular intervals and ultimately restricting LSG to 205/7. Eshan Malinga was the standout performer, returning figures of 2/28 in his four overs at an economy rate of 7.00.
3. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive innings
Chasing a challenging target of 206 in the absence of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma delivered a spectacular innings that set up the match for SRH. He blazed his way to 59 off just 20 balls, bringing up his fifty in only 18 deliveries.His 82-run stand with Ishan Kishan off just 35 balls was instrumental in SRH’s successful chase.
When Digvesh Rathi dismissed Abhishek, a verbal spat broke out between the two youngsters, prompting intervention from the umpires and players as emotions ran high.
