Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr side received a major boost ahead of their clash against Al-Riyadh in the ongoing Saudi Pro League, as the match between Al-Ettifaq and Al-Hilal ended in a 1-1 draw.
Following this result, Al-Hilal remain in second place with 58 points from 27 games, while Al-Nassr are close behind in third with 54 points from 26 matches. A win in today’s clash would take Al-Nassr just one point behind Al-Hilal, with both teams having played the same number of games.
Talking about the match, Al-Ettifaq took the lead at the stroke of half-time through a goal by João Costa. However, in the 57th minute, Al-Hilal equalised when Malcom found the back of the net from a Renan Lodi assist. Al-Hilal had many chances to win the game but unfortunately, they failed to score another as they left frustrated with the 1-1 scoreline.
“The draw with Al-Hilal is good.” – Al-Ettifaq coach Saad Al-Shahrani
After the match, Al-Ettifaq coach Saad Al-Shahrani described the draw as a good result. Speaking at the post-match press conference, he said: “The confrontation had two phases. In the first half, we were the better team, but the second half saw a decline, especially after the injuries that affected the team, and the draw with Al-Hilal is good.”
He added: “I do not underestimate the value of any player in the team, and I trust the capabilities of the current group. With greater support and resources, we will be able to plan for a better future for the team.”
