Prerak Mankad, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder, was one of the stars as the team pulled off a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) that put them right back in the play-off mix. Mankad scored an impressive 64 runs off 45 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. He played the anchor role and remaining unbeaten, an effort that won him the player of the match award.
“Most important game for us, my score does not matter to me, whichever team I play I want to contribute,” said Mankad at the post-match presentation. “I was trying to hit the spinners and couldn’t connect. I knew Mayank [Markande] would try to get me out and I have played against him in domestic cricket, so took my chance. Thanks to the management for giving me this opportunity.

“I haven’t batted a lot at No.3 but have batted in the top four. I back my ability and strength, it worked out in the end. Whatever happens at the other end should not effect me, and because of [Marcus] Stoinis and [Nicholas] Pooran we won this game.”
Deepak Hooda’s miserable run of form this season gave Mankad his opportunity, and he made full use of it.
