India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised Hardik Pandya’s performance, highlighting that his bowling takes a significant leap when he consistently reaches speeds of 140 kmph. Mhambrey expressed satisfaction at the all-rounder’s contribution, emphasising the importance of managing workload to maintain his fitness levels.
“I am very happy with the way Hardik has shaped up, something that we have worked on for a long time. We have been managing his workload, making sure that he is fit and able to achieve what we expect of him. Once he hits 140 kmph, he is a different bowler. From the team perspective, that’s a wicket-taking option we have,” said Mhambrey ahead of the Bangladesh game.
In the Asia Cup so far, Pandya contributed with the bat in the first match against Pakistan at a crucial time. He also took three wickets in three innings and his bowling in the last match against Sri Lanka drew praise from captain Rohit Sharma.
India’s journey to the Asia Cup final saw them triumph over Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage. This is their 10th appearance in the final. On Friday (September 15), the Men in Blue face Bangladesh in an inconsequential match.
