Texas Super Kings (TSK) began their MLC 2025 campaign with a narrow three-run win over MI New York at Oakland. Calvin Salvage won the Player of the Match award for his unbeaten 53-run knock off 34 balls, and Daryl Mitchell also shone with his death bowling as he defended nine runs in the last over, conceding only five. But despite all of this, the TSK skipper, Faf du Plessis, hit the headlines with a stunning one-handed grab.
It was the second ball of the 14th over, with MI NY’s Michael Bracewell batting and Milne bowling. Bracewell was looking to hit the ball on the up, but at the wide mid-off region, du Plessis went full stretch and grabbed the ball with one hand. At 40 years of age, the fitness level that du Plessis still carries is outrageous, and this catch was a prime example of it. That dismissal at that point put an end to the 97-run stand between Bracewell and Monank Patel for the fourth wicket.

TSK are now in the second spot with this win
Speaking of the match, while batting first, TSK scored 185/6 in 20 overs. In reply, TSK bowlers held their nerves under pressure and won the game by just three runs. Mitchell went wicketless for 53 runs in four overs, but in the most important over of the match, when the team needed him to step up, he used his experience and stepped up to deliver and won the game for TSK. With this win, TSK are now in the second spot with two points and a net run rate of +0.150.
