With the top four solidified and the playoffs starting tomorrow, Mullanpur is all geared up to host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator. With two back to back matches on May 29 and 30, today is the only spare day that the three teams can utilise to get a practice session in.

The first team in was Mumbai Indians, who kicked off their practice session at 2pm. Even with the temperature reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius, MI players were dedicated to getting some time out in the middle. The practice session was divided into two groups, with one group practicing on the centre wicket and the other in an enclosed private net area space.

Jasprit Bumrah was the focus of the practice session, especially with the high-stake five-match Test series right around the corner. Burmah walked into the field around 2:15 pm. After finishing his warm-up routine he went around the field and chatted with multiple members of the staff and the team. Subsequently, he started his bowling practice. Bumrah and Trent Boult started bowling around the same time, taking turns on the centre wicket. With Rajangad Bawa and Jonny Bairstow, and a few other batters rotating in the nets, Bumrah and Boult collectively bowled over 10 overs at the nets. Bumrah alone bowled for close to 40 minutes in the scorching heat.

When it comes to Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and the rest — they chose to practice in an enclosed net area that was out of bounds for the media. Apart from Bumrah and Boult, Reece Topley also bowled for a while, with Mitchell Santler and Robin Minz practicing some big hitting. Santner also practiced against some spin bowling.
