Put into bat first against Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a strong total of 180 for losing five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. While Suryakumar Yadav was the standout performer with the bat for MI, reaching 180 would have been impossible without the vital cameo from Naman Dhir.

The batting all-rounder came to the crease after Dushmantha Chameera dismissed Hardik Pandya, who was caught by Mukesh Kumar, leaving MI at 123 for 5. Naman then took charge, blasting 20 runs in the 19th over against Mukesh Kumar. On the third ball of that over, Naman got the strike from Suryakumar, who also struck the ball cleanly at the other end.

Naman lofted the third delivery over extra cover, narrowly missing a six. He followed it up by whipping the next ball to the leg side for a maximum. Mukesh attempted to outfox him with a slower ball, but Naman waited for it and dispatched it for another six. The final delivery of the over was in the slot, and Naman drove it through extra cover for a four.

Naman Dhir and Suryakumar stitched together a 57-run partnership

He played a sensational knock, scoring 24 off just eight balls at a strike rate of 300.00, including two fours and two sixes. He and Suryakumar stitched together a 57-run partnership off just 21 balls, with Surya contributing 33 runs.

Earlier, the partnership between Tilak Varma and Suryakumar, worth 55 runs, was also crucial during the middle overs and laid a solid foundation for the innings. For DC, Mukesh Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets.
