Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya heaped praise on overseas star Will Jacks after his all-round brilliance powered MI to a crucial win over a star-studded Sunrisers Hyderabad in a rare low-scoring encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 17.

Jacks came into the game under significant pressure, having failed to deliver with either bat or ball in previous outings. Despite his struggles, MI continued to show faith in the Englishman — a move that paid rich dividends.

Stepping up in the absence of the injured Karn Sharma, Jacks delivered with the ball, picking up the key wickets of Ishan Kishan and Travis Head. He outfoxed Kishan with flight and turn, while Head fell victim to the slow pitch, mistiming an aggressive shot after a solid SRH opening stand.

With the bat, Jacks came in at number 3 and top-scored with a brisk 36 off 26 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. His knock provided much-needed momentum to the chase as MI comfortably overhauled the 162-run target in under 19 overs.

“That’s the beauty of Jacks,” Pandya said after the win. “He brings three dimensions — he’s electric in the field, can chip in with key overs, and has that explosive batting ability. That’s why we back him. I’m thrilled it came off for him today.”

Looking ahead, Pandya is already gearing up for MI’s next blockbuster clash against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

“It’s going to be a great game, and we know it’ll be a full house. Right now, we just want to make sure the boys rest well and recover properly,” he added.
