Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has revealed that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer. The 44-year-old shared his health update on social media where he requested people to go for regular health check-ups.

In a post on Instagram, Clarke wrote, “Skin cancer is real! Especially in Australia. Another one cut out of my nose today. A friendly reminder to get your skin checked. Prevention is better than cure but in my case, regular check-ups and early detection is key. So grateful that @drbishsoliman_ got it early”.

Clarke was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2006 and in 2019 he removed three non-melanoma lesions. At that time also he reminded people to take care and protect themselves from the harsh sun exposure.

Speaking earlier to The Daily Mail about his battle, Clarke said, “I am a dad … I don’t want to go anywhere. The most important thing in the world is making sure I help my seven-year-old daughter (Kelsey Lee) and I guess set a good example for her. To me, making sure I am putting sunscreen on so she can see it is not just me getting her to do it, it is dad doing it as well.”

Clarke played 115 Tests, 245 ODIs, and 34 T20Is between 2003 and 2015. He led Australia to the 2015 World Cup triumph and finished his career with more than 16,000 international runs, which also includes 28 Test centuries.
