
There was one development in the virtual meeting regarding the future of Indian Super League (ISL), held the behest of the sports ministry on Thursday. The ministry asked the clubs to submit their proposal in 24 hours.
Officials of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), representatives of the ISL clubs and the sports ministry discussed the matter. The ministry officials made it clear that there isn’t any proposal from their part.
The ISL usually starts in September-October, but it got stalled this season due to contractual complications.
The ministry is trying to find a solution. It is learnt that there are a few clubs which want to run the league together. What suggestions they come up with individually and collectively will be interesting to watch.
Meanwhile, the AIFF has said that its new constitution can’t be implemented until the new sports code comes into force. It also stated that the Indian Women’s League will take place, but without a sponsor.
