Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi is optimistic that all unresolved matters will be settled, and the ACC, in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will successfully pave the way for the staging of the Asia Cup.
The ACC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) concluded in Dhaka on Thursday (July 24), with most member boards sending representatives in person. While reports initially suggested that the BCCI had opted to boycott the meeting, it was confirmed that BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla attended via video conference.
Speaking at an event during the AGM, Naqvi stressed the importance of unity among member nations, saying the future of Asian cricket hinges on collaboration and mutual support.
“It’s always about teamwork — and when you work as a team, success follows,” Naqvi said at the event. “Some countries weren’t able to travel to Dhaka, and that’s understandable. I couldn’t attend the recent ICC meeting in Singapore either due to other commitments. Scheduling conflicts are common, but what matters is that all 25 ACC members participated in today’s meeting. That’s a positive sign for both the ACC and the BCCI. I’m hopeful that we’ll soon resolve the pending matters and move forward with the Asia Cup.”
While the official schedule and venue for the Asia Cup are yet to be announced, sources close to the matter indicate that both the schedule and budget have already been approved. As the designated host, the BCCI is expected to make the first official announcement, followed by the ACC.
